Milk Fiber

Milk fiber is a regenerated protein fiber made from casein, the natural protein found in milk. When surplus or spoiled milk can no longer be used for consumption, the casein is extracted, purified, and transformed into a soft spinning solution, which is then extruded into fine filaments. The result is a silky, breathable fiber that gives new purpose to dairy waste, turning excess nutrients into something gentle, lightweight, and wearable.

The process begins by separating casein protein from liquid milk. The casein is purified, dried into powder, and dissolved into a spinning solution. This solution is then extruded through fine spinnerets (similar to other regenerated fibers) and solidified into continuous filaments. Modern production methods can operate at relatively low temperatures and, in some cases, avoid harsh chemical cross-linkers used in earlier generations of casein fibers.

Why we chose to use it

We chose milk fiber because it reimagines excess as opportunity. By transforming surplus dairy protein into a soft, breathable textile, it gives new purpose to nutrients that would otherwise go to waste. It’s a material born from reconsidering what we throw away, aligning with our belief that innovation starts by looking at existing systems differently.

Beyond its origin story, milk fiber offers a smooth, lightweight feel against the skin with natural breathability and comfort. It allows us to design garments that feel refined and elevated, while staying rooted in our mission to turn overlooked resources into something thoughtfully made and future-focused.
